The Net is Knowledge. And knowledge is something we all have. We’re not talking about general knowledge. We’re talking about something specific. You probably know something that most people don’t.
Guess what?
You can sell it on the Net.

That’s what Make Your Knowledge Sell (MYKS) is all about. Althoug the book comes from SiteSell.com, it is written by Monique Harris who earns a six figure income by only creating info products. It contains chapters about:

Pulling profitable ideas from thin air

How to package your pearls

How to write them down

How to determine the quality is high enough to start selling it

Complete process from first to final draft

The entire sales process

Selling and shipping

Theft protection

It’s all covered in the main volume. Apart from that there are seperate volumes about:

Hundreds of marketplaces

Online infoseller’s jumpstart kit

Buying and selling reprint rights

Complete automation process

Ebooks secrets by Ken Silver, a brilliant book

And… again, you don’t have to be a writer. The author, Monique Harris, isn’t a natural born writer either. She’s just anyone. College dropout, couldn’t hold a job. If you haven’t done so already, please click to download the The Netwriting Masters Course. (free, no e-mail address required, no strings attached) to prove that.

SiteSell really overdelivers again. Make Your Knowledge Sell is sheer quality, even if you don’t plan to write a book. You still will learn a lot.
But if you do want to write a book and sell it on the Net, this is a must have. To put it simply, it’s the best book that you can buy on this topic. So, if you don’t already own it, buy it.

Generate Sales Through the Art of Storytelling

When you create content, storytelling instead of fact-driven writing to presell your products and services. Fact-driven writing presents info in a news-like style while storytelling carries the facts wrapped up in a story that hooks the reader towards a logical conclusion.

Below is an example of each style of writing:

Example #1:
This high quality travel mug is designed to preserve your coffee or tea locked within the mug with its slip-lock lid.

Example #2 - Storytelling Style
Jane and I got a chance to buy the house of our dreams. It was a mansion that at long last went on the market and our competition was overwhelming. There were at least 25 other people interested and open to purchase when we saw it. It was just by luck that we managed to get the appointment first with the agent.

Jane rapidly pulled together all the files we required, grabbed her coffee and we raced to the agent’s office. Jane stepped through the door, caught her heel and tripped. The files went flying and papers were tossed in every which direction. That’s nothing compared to the coffee, which went flying through the air, in the direction of our agent. I saw my life flash before me in that instant. I wanted to blame someone, but in the end I could only look to myself. If I’d thought, I would have bought Jane that nice, coffee mug with that slip-lock lid she’d desired for her birthday. Instead, I had gone with a low-cost toaster, and here we are - papers a mess all over the floor. Not to bring up the brew of coffee on our agent and his desk…..

Of the two examples, which kept your attention longer as a reader? Which one was a more intriguing read?

In the first example, the facts about the coffee mug are made but presented in a boring way that you can scan in about two seconds. The connection is not formed, and it is entirely possible that you will forget about it as soon as you read it.

Example two presents the exact same information, but does it in a way that draws you to the conclusion plugging the slip-lock coffee mug in such a way that it makes sense and is memorable. While this may not entice you to instantly run out and buy the product, the next time you’re rushing out the threshold with a cup of coffee in your hand, you are likely to recall the story of Jane and her husband.

Storytelling is not lying. It is fiction composed for a very specific intent that will allow the reader to associate to the story. It puts things in context instead of delivering product information like news. Selling is more about how good a connection you make with your audience rather than news delivery.

Through stories you spotlight benefits that a certain product can deliver - keeps coffee from flying in the air - all the while making an emotional connection with people. Remember, the longer you maintain a visitor on your site, the bigger the opportunity for them to purchase your product or service.

Creating a story is really quite easy if you have a framework in which to work:

1. First you need to pick the product or service you want to write about in this event the coffee mug.

2. Make a list of how the product or service is applied in every day life. For instance, what does a coffee mug do? It handles your beverage, prevents it from burning you, and can be used with a lid to allow it to travel with you without caring about spills or leaks you can get from the mug being anything but upright.

3. When will the product or service be used? Will it be carried to a business meeting, to meet a guest, on the bus, in the car, when a customer calls?

4. Produce some characters to put in some action. Characters in our story are, “Jane and I are buying a mansion…”

5. Include some event that everyone can associate with. For example, everyone has tripped before. Other examples include purchasing the wrong present, going to the wrong home, mislaying a phone number to something important, etc.

6. Interweave these items together into a scene, embellishing it to make it intriguing and allowing the story unfold through the eyes of the characters.

Using experiences that have occurred in your life will be a good starting point. If you’ve left babyhood, you should have a wealth of events and experiences that can be turned into ideas for stories. Go sit in the park or at the beach and people-watch. It’s fun and will present you a wealth of ideas. Think about the products you are attempting to sell. A story about the benefits of the product will more than likely come to mind.

Storytelling in your content is a essential way to get people to buy your products. Stay with it and you’ll have stories about how you reached great wealth through affiliate marketing.

Keyword Focused Content Pages or KFCPs is the cornerstone for any thriving online business. However, there is another kind of webpage - the Product Focused Content Page. This kind of page focuses on very specific products using products as the keyword. It kicks out high-quality information related to a certain product. This is a new concept, but because it’s new, that’s no reason that it shouldn’t fare as well as keyword content web pages.

Think about it. By the time a customer is looking for a peculiar product number or model number, they are far along in their mind towards making a purchase. Think back about the last time you were looking to buy online. Your search might set out with “office staplers”, but when you are ready to buy, you would have a make, model number and specific info about characteristics and benefits already researched. So rather than a broad “office staplers” search you would instead be researching for a “Optima PowerEase Swingline Stapler” model. Determining that, you would want to purchase not just shop.

It is often simpler at search engine optimization when you are looking for specific search engine terms. For instance, a ” Optima PowerEase Swingline Stapler ” is much more searchable and convertible to sale than when a person arrives via general search engine terms like “staplers online“.

If you are selling goods or services via direct product sales, sales agents, e-retailers, affiliate programs, drop shippers and the like, you can practice PFCPs to advertise each product quite successfully.

Here’s how: Say you have an website where you list 5, 10 or even 20 products per page. Instead of leaving it with only a product listing, create a content-rich page for each of your most popular products. These are going to be Product Focused Content Pages.

- Build additional trust and credibility via information delivery

Most important is to deliver tightly focused pages that are product focused to substantially improve your chances of being ranked higher and discovered by a highly active surfer.

For instance, if you sell high end Swingline staplers, if you have your stapler offerings mixed up in a hodgepodge of other products, chances of getting targeted visitors is much lower. The SE spider won’t be able to determine what the main focus of the page is about - Swingline, Bostitch, or Poslode products.

However, if you have three pages, one for each product with devoted information about each type, the spider will index one page for Swingline, one for Bostitch, and one for Paslode. Your chances of obtaining visitors specifically interested in one type of stapler are very high.

Combining Keyword-Focused and Product-Focused Content on one website has distinct advantages. Breaking it down into one specific product per page gives you and your customers a big advantage. They find what they desire - information on a specific product, and in turn sales are higher on your end.

If you take the time to make superb information about each product, the search engine wars are effortless to win. All you need to do is Presell your content. CTPM for products is a powerful approach for anyone who sells products and services.

============================================================

原文：

Choosing a good host is a rather difficult endeavor since you can get excellent or lousy service for the same price. It’s much better to get it right the first time, than to move from one host to another spending time and money. Learn from my hosting mistakes, and pick the right host for yourself…

In 2002, when it came to finding a host for this site, I looked through dozens of Web hosting providers and chose the best value for money I could find. That host offered 50MB of disk space, unlimited bandwidth and 99.99%(!) uptime guarantee for $1.5/month and, in addition, dedicated IP address for $0.5/month.

I wondered why others spent hundreds of dollars a year on Web hosting, whereas I got everything I needed for mere $24. Unfortunately, I found the answer very soon - the hosting gradually became a nightmare.

Almost every day, during peak hours, the site got inaccessible or very slow at best. One day, when my site had already been indexed by Google and received noticeable traffic from it, the entire server became inaccessible. I couldn’t see my site, I couldn’t log into my account.

After three days of downtime they sent me an email which said they had moved my account to another server and I had to re-upload my site. This downtime was long enough for Google to drop almost all pages out of its index.

When the similar incident happened again, I started considering switching the host. I realized that, since hard disk space was cheap, they simply made money by placing thousands of sites on one physical server. So I started looking for a host offering several hundred MB of storage space and not less than 5-10 GB of bandwidth, to ensure that they don’t host too many sites on one physical computer and their network isn’t overloaded.

After the third prolonged downtime, I gave up and switched to another host offering 1GB of disk space, 5GB of bandwidth and 99.99% uptime guarantee for $40/year. Additionally, they did weekly backups of customer’s data - in case of a hard drive failure (this happens frequently on many hosting services) they could quickly restore my site from the backup copy.

At the beginning, it was OK, all pages downloaded quickly, except that approximately two times per month, I received alerts from Hyperspin (a free server monitoring service) that my site was down for 0.5 - 8 hours. The total downtime during 10 months of hosting was 52 hours (99.3% uptime).

But after 6 months I noticed that my site became slower and sometimes inaccessible. In other words, the server became overloaded. Though it was less painful than with the first host and no re-uploading was required, I couldn’t bear low uptime and started looking for a new host.

I analyzed my hosting mistakes and compiled the following list of requirements…

Inexpensive (under $10 per month).

Several hundred MB of disk space and not less than 10 GB of bandwidth.
It allows you to expect that they won’t host too many sites on one physical server and their network won’t be overloaded.

Money back guarantee.
Those that offer money back guarantee are more confident about high quality of their hosting.

Daily data backups.
In case of a hard drive failure they can quickly restore your data from the backup copy. The grand majority of inexpensive Web hosting providers don’t offer this feature.

99.9% - 99.95% real uptime.
These figures are more realistic than 99.99%, and can be obtained with the aid of UPS power, diesel backup generator, high-grade server equipment and redundant network connections to multiple backbone providers.

Reputable and well established company.
The company that has been in business quite a while and serves tens of thousands of clients is more concerned about customer satisfaction and more responsible for customer support than a little-known company which most likely is a reseller of a large hosting provider.

After long researching, I’ve found a host that perfectly suits my requirements and is definitely the best balance between pricing and quality… IXWEBHosting.

They offer a few hosting plans. Expert Plan comes with unlimited disk space and bandwidth, 30 day money back guarantee, website builder, free domain name for $5.95/month if you pay for 1 year or $4.95/month if you pay for 2 years up front. Additionally, you get a unique (dedicated) IP address for your site.

I especially like the following features which distinguish IXWebHosting from the bulk of other inexpensive hosting providers…

Dedicated IP addresses.
Having a dedicated IP address for your domain is more reliable and valuable to search engines. Most other providers host multiple sites on the same IP address and charge additionally $2-$5/month for a dedicated IP address.

Strong uptime guaranee:
“We guarantee that your website will be up and running at least 99.9% of the time during any 12-month period. Our guarantee coverage includes our network uptime, server uptime and service uptime.
If downtime exceeds 0.1%, you will be credited…
- Every 3 hours downtime, receive 1 free month.
- For 24 hours downtime, receive 1 free year.”

Other plans provide even more disk space and bandwidth, more domains (separate sites), MySQL, SSL and other advanced features.

So, I moved Buildwebsite4u.com to IXWebHosting. Since then, I’ve had nothing to worry about: my site is always accessible, all pages load fast, I receive no alerts from Hyperspin. Regrettably, I didn’t make this hosting decision back in 2002. How much time and efforts were spent in vain? How many visitors were lost?

Note: here’s a description of one small obstacle I came across when configuring my email client. It can save you a few hours if you’re going to move your site to IXWebHosting:
From their online help, it isn’t clear what method of SMTP authentication to use. If, trying to send an email, you receive the following error:
sorry, that domain isn’t allowed to be relayed thru this MTA (#5.7.1),
it means that you cannot send an email before receiving (you need to start the POP3 service before SMTP).
I switched the “POP before SMTP” option in my email client on, and all started to work properly. If you find no such option in your email program (for example, Outlook Express), you just need to always press the “Receive” button before the “Send” button.

In a statement on Monday, eBay said the online auctioneer and Half.com will no longer run their affiliate programs through ValueClick’s Commission Junction platform but instead rely on the San Jose, California-based company’s own newly created eBay Partner Network.

Shares of ValueClick closed down 7.3 percent to $16.20 on Nasdaq after eBay disclosed the move. EBay stock fell 1.8 percent to $25.77 amid broad declines in the sector. The AMEX Internet Index closed down 2.3 percent.

EBay’s Tradera AB, ProStores, Inc; Reseller Marketplace; Media Marketplace; eBay Stores; and StubHub will continue to rely on Commission Junction to drive traffic to their sites. EBay affiliates working with other affiliate platforms, including Affilinet and Tradedoubler, will not be affected.

The changes take effect April 1, 2008, eBay said. Affiliates affected by the changes must move to the eBay Partner Network by May 1, the online auction leader said.

Since 2001 eBay has allowed affiliates and Web site publishers to be paid for driving Web surfers to eBay. eBay’s Affiliate Program has more than 100,000 members globally.

如何快速的从CJ迁移到eBay Partnet Network中，在EPN的blog中有专门一文，指引。

So you are an existing eBay affiliate and want to migrate your links and banners as quickly as possible? Hopefully this guide will help you through the steps needed.

1. Create a new account on eBay Partner Network by registering at https://www.ebaypartnernetwork.com; use the same name as your old account if possible to help us during migration.

注册EPN，并使用CJ相同的注册名，便于迁移

2. When you register you will be applied to all eBay country programs. You’ll need to check your acceptance status in the ‘Programs’ tab to make sure you are accepted for the countries you want to promote. Being part of the global eBay programs will give you access to our great new geotargeting tools.

3. Remember to enter your payment details to make sure we can pay you. You must use a local bank account to the country where the address you are registering is located.

4. The most basic way to migrate your links and banners is to just create new ones via the interface and replace your old ones.

Creatives: By going to the ‘Tools’ tab you can grab our new creatives. We recommend you replace existing creatives with our new optimized creatives.

RSS/Editor Kit: More details to follow; again the easiest way is to recreate the code sniplets via the ‘Tools’ tab.

Custom URL Links: You are probably wondering how the actual link structure compares to our old one if you’re manually migrating these. We recommend using the link generator tool get an understanding of the full power and structure of the new links but if you do want to still manually migrate then…

We are still using the ‘Rover’ links but we have new parameters in the links which need the values updating.

http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/PLACEMENTID/1?campid=XXXXX&customid=XXXXXXX&
toolid=XXXXXX&mpre=TARGET_ENCODED_URL

placementid determines which ePN program you are promoting and is not optional

campid is an id which you can generate in the interface to allow you to segment your efforts . The campid is similar to the PID you used before but you will need to create new campids and map the two if you want to track performance pre/post migration. You can bulk create campids in the ‘campaign’ tab by uploading a text file to the interface. We create a default campaign for you so this field is not optional.

customid is a 256 character custom field for you to dynamically sub-segment your campaigns at the transaction level which is similar to a SID. Because you can put any value into this field you can migrate your existing SID’s into customids. This field is optional.

toolid determines which tool, link or creative you are using and replaces the old AID. This will be given to you within the interface when you are generating links; note the toolid for the Link Generator (the new flexible destination tool) is 10001. Not optional.

mpre= is followed by a url encoded eBay destination url. Have a look here for more details on url encoding.

For example an existing UK link would migrate from…

http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/710-5232-2978-1/1/1?pid=12345&sid=homepage&aid=9479574&
mpre=http%3A//search.ebay.co.uk/search/search.dll%3Ffrom%3DR40%26satitle%3Dchimney+balloon

to

http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/710-53481-19255-0/1?campid=12345678&customid=homepage&toolid=10001&
mpre=http%3A//search.ebay.co.uk/search/search.dll%3Ffrom%3DR40%26satitle%3Dchimney+balloon

Geotargeted links: One benefit of creating new links rather than modifying existing links is you can use our fantastic new ‘geotargeting’ capabilities for keyword searches and individual items. When you check the ‘geotarget’ box as you generate links, we will detect where user is currently located and send them to their local eBay site via the correct tracking link; you’ll greatly improve your conversion rate by doing this. The ‘default’ program selection tell use where to send the user if they live in a country without an eBay site (e.g. Mexico).

Finally if you are a developer and are using either the Shopping or Trading API’s please refer to the following for details for updating your code or application.

http://developer.ebay.com/support/system-announcements/affiliates/Default.aspx

Commission跟踪应该比CJ（Commission Junction)好。 BANS (Build A Niche Store)
